1st and 2nd place divisional teams play a winner take all
game to advance to the divisional series. It may look like this:
Red Sox vs Yankees
Cleveland vs Detroit
Houston vs Texas
Seattle vs Angels
Mets vs Nats
Cubs vs St Louis
Atlanta vs Mexico City (this would be bananas)
Giants vs Dodgers
MLB could air those 8 games over a Fri/Sat/Sun. Each team throwing their best pitcher, winner take all. That would be crazy fun to watch and really draw in casual fans at the beginning of the playoffs.
