You'd have to be a really big donor and your kid would have to be close to
qualifying academically anyway.

I have heard many conversations with large donors asking for special favors with the acceptance committee. The answer is generally no, even for really large donors. However, I have heard of suggestions like going to BYU-I for a couple of semesters or applying at different times. If the kids was close they may be able to get it reviewed again, but you aren't getting a kid with a 2.5 and a 18 on the ACT in.

Generally speaking it doesn't happen. I've overheard the conversation many times with donors who have given millions and are looking to help kids/grandkids.
