I have heard many conversations with large donors asking for special favors with the acceptance committee. The answer is generally no, even for really large donors. However, I have heard of suggestions like going to BYU-I for a couple of semesters or applying at different times. Generally speaking it doesn't happen. I've overheard the conversation many times with donors who have given millions and are looking to help kids/grandkids.
