if a head coach loses the locker room then it's an indicator that it's time...
...maybe to consider other options or at the very least to shake up the staff and for Rose to do something to save his job. We'd all like to be nice guys but sometimes sports is about the business of winning and it forces you to make tough decisions, like replacing two nice guy assistant coaches that you might be chummy with.
