But it's not as easy as it sounds. You HAVE to have connections over there that see a kid play alot, then that connection has to like you enough to tell you about the kid, then you have to trust that connection enough to consider the kid he is telling you about.
If that isn't the process, then it's not going to work.
The SMC coaches have made those connections and it's now a well oiled machine. But look how long it has taken. Not every college (BYU probably included) has the money, time, resources, relationships, and patience to make it happen.

Seems like it'd be much easier, cheaper and more efficient to take the top 100 players we have and teach the to be smart
