I could really feel for Belboz in his post. Over my years working, I've seen a lot of irritating stuff like this (and probably I've irritated people as well).
Here are some that I've seen, and it's likely they're not all that bad relative to what some of you have posted. But, they are irritating, like the guy Belboz mentioned.
1) The guy in the office right next door to me is a whistler/hummer. He puts his headphones on to listen to music, which is great and very considerate. But he hums AND whistles along to it. And it's kind of a low, irritating hum, interspersed with a tuneless whistle. The first time I heard the hum, I thought it was an appliance of some sort. I'm not the only one who has noticed it, and we end up closing our office doors a lot.
2) The loud phone talkers. There's a woman a few offices away that just has a voice that carries. She even closes her door, but man you can hear her. She drowns out the humming and whistling from right next door, but it's not a good thing.
3) I used to have a guy in the office next to me a few years back who would listen to every single phone message on speaker phone turned way up. And his phone was right on the other side of the wall. So I heard about all of his church callings, doctors appointments, family relations, etc. That guy also used to listen to Taylor Swift loud, and without headphones.
4) Then there's always "reheat fish in the breakroom" guy. I think every office has one or two. I had a guy in my office that actually brought in a George Foreman grill and was full-on grilling tilapia in there every day. So, technically not reheating, but it still stunk up the place. The dude buys the massive bag of frozen tilapia from Costco, and works his way through it. He hasn't done it in awhile, though--maybe security asked him not to.
