From Wilner article:
"Eric Musselman had multiple discussions with the Bears but was never offered the job and wasn’t ever going to be offered the job.
Remember: Musselman stuck it in Cal’s face by hiring Yann Hufnagel during an investigation into sexual harassment allegations — one of several investigations that were underway at the time at the behest of the UC president, Janet Napolitano.
The likelihood of Musselman, who had other off-the-court issues, too, getting approval from the top tier of UC power was somewhere between none and hahaha.
But because he was the preferred candidate of a single Cal official, Musselman interviewed for the job and thus had leverage.
In fact, it got to this: Reports last week indicated that Musselman, the purported frontrunner, informed Cal of his decision to remain in Reno.
Goodness, he played the Bears perfectly: A candidate with no chance to get the job made it seem like he had turned down Cal in order to stay with the Wolf Pack.
Guess what, folks: That’s on Cal."
