Rawlins is about 210 miles from Denver, a little past half way from SLC. There are actually some nicer places there than you might expect. I think they built some newer hotels to accommodate oil field workers. As I recall, there is a Fairfield Inn and Hampton Inn, among other name brand hotels.

I think Rawlins breaks up the trip about as close to halfway as you can get.
