We're in our 30's, and my wife is just a year removed from giving birth to our second child. She's been working really hard to get back down to her pre-baby weight, and is almost there. A few weeks ago she was out shopping with her mother, trying on clothes. She put on a dress that she really loved, and showed it off to her mother. Her mother proceeds to pat her belly and say "Wow, I think another five or ten more pounds and this will look really good." I can't tell you the number of times I've had to deal with the aftermath of her hurtful comments.
