is with Utah, Mormons. Are they just overly into their looks, do they have a monopoly on being thin, etc.

I hadn't thought about it other than I figured most guys just prefer to be attracted to their wives. But, then I noticed the women more of New England, who was married in law school, and realized something is going on.

I do believe that the church has sort of created greener grass for men, in that the subset of women who are loyal to the gospel is larger than those of men, and correspondingly the visible choices are more plentiful for men than women among those that are active in church. There are other factors that go into this obviously.
