Obvoiusly he had some stress in his life at the time but ultimately he under-performed on the field. I think it's awefully convenient to blame Doman and Nelson for Heaps being benched for poor play and leadership. I think it was the right move to bench him at the time.

While It's true that the offense had a lot of other issues, but the qb play by Heaps was horrible. Poor accuracy and pocket presence, Balls were bouncing off the ground a foot in front of the WR or two feet long on the long balls. Getting thumped against Utah and about to lose to UsU.

Riley played much better when he got his chance and the team responded much better.

I don't blame Heaps for transferring either after Doman benched him. I wished him the best of luck then and now. He never developed into his potential in college. If he makes a team in the NFL that's great for him. I'm glad to hear he and his family are doing well.
