My mom was the primary president when I was young and we had a huge primary. She was totally caught off guard at how often teachers would call Sunday morning 15 minutes before church to say they weren't going to be there and they hadn't even tried to find a substitute.

She has often said that one of her goals in raising kids was to have us grow up to have self confidence and, based on that experience as Primary Pres., to take responsibility for our commitments.
