It sounds like Mississippi Valley and UT-Arlington are part of the Barclays tournament (and frankly a gift IMHO as UT-Arlington finished top 50 last year). Participation in any pre-season tourney would get you two similar games.

Illinois State was a top 50 team last year.

I assume you would like to keep Utah.

Niagara, Idaho State, and Texas Southern look to be poor but having some practice games isn't bad (for example the Idaho State & Texas Southern games prior to Christmas to prep for the conference schedule).

Playing Weber, UVU, and Utah State all away from the Marriott Center is tough as those games provide some interest and Weber/UVU should be able to double as practice games. Princeton was a top 50 team NCAA tournament team last year and they are the 2nd game of a home and home.

Realistically we are talking about giving up the Niagara, Idaho State & Texas Southern games. The dates aren't ideal (Thanksgiving week for Niagara & week before Christmas for the other two) but BYU could have tried to get some one and done type games. Given how last year ended I'm not opposed to trying to give the team some easy wins and build confidence. Would you have preferred to exchange these games for an Illinois or USC type game similar to last year (if the dates would even make it work)?
