east of states along a line through Wyoming, Colorado, NM do get a slight benefit. It's only enough basically to break a tie, but all other things being equal, a student from the midwest or east will get in over a student from the west.

It's true. BYU only uses unweighted GPA's. Most HS's in Utah don't do weighted GPA's at all. But they will
