The difference is that the RB gets significantly more help in his game from the
OL than the corner gets from the rest of the team. Very rarely can a RB be amazing unless he has a stellar OL. You can have a lock down corner with very little help from the defense. And actually a good corner may look even better if the defense were worse lol... It's sad to me that I cannot name one offensive lineman from Luke Staley's Doak Walker year. If Williams had the same line he did then he very likely would have been in a similar position to win.
