They're consistently beating P5 teams. Memphis has been beating P5 teams for most of the past 5 years and they don't have any big recruits or transfers. Almost all G5 teams get transfer from lower schools. They're almost never starting there and leave because they want playing time.
The reality is coaching and talent can equally impact the program. Talent alone doesn't do it.
