Bronco seemed to fall in love too easily with players and coaches who reminded him of himself when he was younger and then stuck with them to a fault rather than hold them to the same standard of accountability that he held everyone else to. I think at times it took some major pressure and/or intervention from Holmoe to make a change and that usually came after a potentially special season was wasted (ie 2012).
It seems in Kalani's case he likes working with guys he played with (or in the same era) and seems comfortable with guys who have similar temperaments. I hope his comfort level doesn't blind him when a coach isn't the right fit or isn't getting the job done like it did Bronco.
