I see your point. I disagree.
The benefits of being in the P5, along with a consistent home schedule, a conference division championship, and continued rivalries, would make fans much more interested in games.
I suspect BYU in a P5 conference would generate MORE enthusiasm among its fans that Utah has, even if BYU never won its division (much like Utah has never won its division).
