this point, BYU will have years just like this for the first 3-5 years. Recruiting will improve, but BYU will never compete recruiting wise with schools who don't have an honor code to follow. In 5-7 years BYU might rise form the bottom third to the middle third of the league, with every few years beyond that, arriving for short periods in the top third of the league. More time will be spent in middle third than top third. Once every 10 years or so, BYU might have a mathematical shot at a conference title. Once every 20 years or so, they might win one. Arizona has been in the PAC since 1978. They have NEVER been to a Rose Bowl. Arizona does not have an honor code to deal with when recruiting.

That is reality. Being in a P5 conference would be awesome. Seeing the great teams that would come to town week in and week out would be awesome. Many on here could not stomach the beatings BYU would go through while they try to build the program to better compete. Too many unreasonable expectations would exist among the fan base, especially on CB.

I like the mix of competition independence brings right now. P5 would be even better. I am not holding my breathe.
