You may not be aware of this, but Mika was actually a member of the basketball
team at BYU, which is one of the more prominent sports programs at the school. And his decision to leave obviously affected the basketball team quite a bit, which means a great deal to the team's fans (many thousands of them, in fact).

Your argument would be a really good one if we were talking about a random college student who was not in the public eye. But we're not. We're talking about one of the most prominent athletes at the school. Big difference there, yeah?
