Our kids use kindles in the car
It’s marvelous. For 9 and 12 hour drives, they play games, stream videos, read books.
Content needs to be downloaded over WiFi, but once on the road, most games and books don’t need an internet connection. We use a WiFi hard drive with about 30 movies on it for streaming video.
Each kindle has a set of headphones.
