That's how the others work as well. At least LastPass works that way.
LastPass doesn't have the passwords at all. They just have the locally encrypted file. And your password is your encryption key. You lose that and you're boned. (there are some recovery options enabled by default however)

But passwords themselves are not stored individually at LastPass.
