a mistake, and then follows it up with a lack of effort play.
Tonight was a perfect example. He takes a bad shot, and misses. No big deal there. Lots of players do that. It's something you can encourage him to play through and let him play through. But then after the shot, he chases the guard who got the rebound for 3-4 steps. Another mistake that maybe you can let him play through. But then he loafs the rest of the way down the court and his guy gets a dunk.
Once coaches see that on film....minutes get taken away. Not because of the effort mistakes, but because of the lack of effort after a mistake.
BTW, Haws does this sort of thing a lot as well.
