"legit" but rather as Anglicized Mexican food. I live in Arizona and also spend time in New Mexico. Good green chile is at the core of real Mexican food. Best Mexican food I've seen is in Globe, Arizona, at family owned hole-in-the wall restaurants. Cooks and staff all are Spanish speaking.
Home made tortillas, buttered and salted, with a third plate of green chile--rice, beans and green chile--is "legit" and is real Mexican food.
