out because there were some ISIS videos and other universally inappropriate stuff that was being monetized. Advertisers rightfully were disgusted their ads were being played on content like that. So a bunch of them pulled out. It turned into a witch hunt where they went after even really popular youtubers that use profanity and colorful jokes. Some big time channels got demonetized or lost endorsements and things from big time advertisers.

Youtube's ongoing response has been that they put in an algorithm that is supposed to detect inappropriate content and then flag your video as only being appropriate for certain audiences, which means it gets filtered out of anyone that uses the family filter. It also heavily demonetizes you because advertisers now have the power to only advertise to completely clean videos. Problem is this algorithm is garbage and gives false negatives all over the place. My videos are as innocent as they come but I still get about 1 out of 4 videos flagged and have to appeal it. Really annoying. They say I am not losing ad revenue by this but the proof is in the pudding. I am losing big revenue.
