I have only two objections to tipping:
1. Especially somewhere where waiters get paid a full wage already, it shouldn't be treated as a given — it should be something that is "extra" and dependent on good service.
2. I'm anti the percentage inflation that goes on. As menu prices go up, tips go up too. But the percentage shouldn't change from 10 to 15 to 20 to 25. I guess.
But whatever really. I honestly don't care that much. People who are dining out in restaurants where tipping is expected are generally doing well enough that they can spare a few extra bucks. Let these waiters have some cash that their employer doesn't touch.
