There is a lot of counter-culture investing, retirement, and
financial independence information out there nowadays.
Traditional career: work 40+ plus years in a job while saving 10-15% of your income in retirement and then hope you can outlive your money....YUCK.
Counter-culture plan: Save 50%+ of your income yearly and "retire" or become financially independent in 7-12 years! That is more enticing to me.
These plans differ in execution by quite a bit and will lead you to make different decision about money (i.e. emergency fund). It all depends on your plan.
