The Jazz still blew it. They could have offered Hayward the extra year initially. Then he'd be playing with Mitchell
this season and would be (possibly) seeing that there was a real future as a title contender in Utah. He'd just now be shopping for his new contract/free agent options. Instead, they let Hayward test the market 5+ years ago, and they ended up only matching his offer sheet which was for 1 year less than it otherwise could have been.
