My not so cool as yours, Augusta National story.
I was stationed in lower Alabama in the service (Ft. Rucker) and got a mission to move a patient from Montgomery, AL to a VA hospital in Augusta, Ga. We dropped the patient off and refueled at a local FBO and started talking about the golf course, the tournament and the kinds of aircraft that flew in for it every year with the local operator. I got the idea that since we were right here we should go have a look at the course just to say we had. The FBO guy cautioned us that there was some kind of flight restriction under a certain altitude over the golf course. We checked our trusty nautical's and sure enough there was (I can't remember now what it was, maybe a couple thousand feet). We took off and flew over and toured the course for several minutes from maybe 300'. We got numerous single digit salutes from the members and their guests. We flew on back to LA and I was thinking that the FAA or someone might report me (PIC) , but I never heard a thing about it. The holes you see on TV are easily recognized from the air.
