I guess I'm the opposite. A profound song performed with less musical skill will
always be better to me than a pointless song performed flawlessly by someone with tons of musical talent. For example, Semi-charmed Life is about a downward spiral of drug abuse. It sounds light and poppy on the surface, but definitely has more depth to it. Even if I don't really care for the song, I respect it more than most pop songs.
