I think we have a good coaching staff and some players who could be lotsa fun to watch. Spring Ball this year felt even more meaningless than years passed because we really have no idea what to make of anything. With Mangum and Hoge hampered by injury we were down to having an almost Pavlovian reaction to every tidbit the sports media could share about Wilson. Do I think that Wilson has a bright future?? Sure...but he's a true Freshman!!

What I really wish we could have taken away from Spring Ball was if discipline and effort were back towards the top of the priority stack on DEFENSE!! I am dying to hear that Wayne Kirby is emerging as the all world DT that we need to help Khyris Tonga in the middle of the DLine. I want to hear that the middle LB is going to be better than last year when Pau'u seemed to be a shadow of the player we have seen. The defense was shockingly bad in 2017 and given that Sitake has most of his experience there I was truly disappointed. As a fan, I was not super thrilled when our Offense was farther ahead than our defense during Spring Ball.

The hardest part of me is going to be waiting until September when Fall camp is over, all the hype has come and hopefully shown up on the field. The real work is happening now....the team is either getting stronger, working hard as much as they can or they are going to be setting Sitake up to be fired after another bad season. Who is the Field Marshal/Enforcer on defense who is demanding hard work? Is Mangum the QB who is calling the WRs to go run routes all the time? Are the WRs and TEs making the effort to get there and develop chemistry with the QBs? It sucks as a College Football fan this time of year, but the stew is in the slow-cooker and we are going to see if the ingredients are good or rotten in another 5 months and that's why I couldn't get excited about Spring Ball this year.
