His heart is in the right place and I’ve never met someone with such love for every person he meets.

Secondly you don’t have any idea why he got divorced and assuming that he “ditched his kids and wife” is pretty rude. He isn’t ditching his kids, he said they will both still be parenting them. You don’t know that it wasn’t her that maybe couldn’t deal with a husband always on the road, you don’t know that they both just didn’t feel like they were going the same direction.
