It seems like your kinda defensive of the situation. It's doesn't matter what the tone was; just be the bigger fan/person despite team affiliation. I was in a traffic situation yesterday. I was at fault and was apologetic as I could be and a BYU fan said something similar to me. He made a personal comment about me based on my vehicle (which is awful) and the Ute sicker I have on it. I was taken back like wow... this dude knows nothing about me and thinks he's better than me based on where he went to school and what he drives vs. what I drive/attended. It irked me because I have about 175k in cash and multiple properties. I never told the man about my actual finances because who does that and I wanted to defuse the situation. I don't say this to "humble brag" but you NEVER know what people are going through. I could have been dirt poor and really struggling to help my family and his comments would have crushed me. Maybe that guy was a bad word or maybe he owns that store and wanted to joke with you. My wife's family are all Byu fans, and I have nothing but respect for them. It's Utah you're going to hear lame rivalry smack your whole life... just own it and have fun.
