That may be true. But we gripe about anyone who writes about BYU

I wouldn’t want to write about BYU. The only way you can get any praise is by trashing BYU and getting Ute fans on your side. Even if you write positive things, The BYU fans aren’t going to stand with you and will turn on you the first time you write something negative.
On the other hand, if you get called into the bosses office because you aren’t getting clicks, just write a negative article about the Mormons or BYU. That will get you plenty of clicks.
