This is the real reason. Yes, we Cougars can be--like any fanbase--sensitive...
...to criticism, but where it likely gets exhausting for the local beat writer is that, unlike many sports markets, any positive piece earns you as much negativity, if not more, from the fanbase that has supposedly "moved on" from the rivalry.
