I recall when the Wii was on fire and nobody could get them. I lucked out
I randomly walked into my Logan walmart on a weekday, before lunch, and there were 3 ...on the shelf! about 5 weeks before Christmas, so that was a lucky score.
I'd guess that Nintendo will start releasing them (NES classic) more and more now.
