offense. Hoping someone with everything you want for D could potentially use it to the fullest, isn't the same as hoping for someone to create something elite on offense when it isn't there... Hoping for a Rudy Gobert to become a great offensive player is not like hoping an Ayton can become a great defensive player.
You keep saying figure it out but I think you're overrating the concept of defense. I'd worry more about something like motor or effort than "figuring it out." It's more of a "will over skill" part of the game. He has everything available to mold so that's not an issue for an NBA coach.
You're a Suns fan so you're breaking down a worse-case for a player likely to be chosen by that team. But you can do this for every single player. "My worry is that..." can be said for just about every group of top picks every year. IOW he doesn't really have any more concerns than anyone else, and he also doesn't have a lower ceiling. I can worry that Luca Doncic will only be _____ as well. What's the difference?
Professional executives care about the ceiling. I really doubt any professional coach is worrying that they wouldn't be able to mold elite measurables on the defensive end of basketball.
