I have a theory...
Speed of technology is making everyone very impatient. It's a patience problem. Things weren't so instant 15-20 years ago. People actually had to wait for the newspaper the next morning to read news, or wait for someone to answer the phone to talk, or wait in lines without the ability to surf the internet. Today everything has become so instantaneous that nobody has any patience. I see this play out in a lot of road rage. People can't wait for a red light, or a car to merge, etc....also their phone is within arms reach, it's vibrating, beeping, so they try and drive and text or resist the urge to pick it up.

Also, because of this form of texting and online transactions, many people have lost the art of public tact.

I think we are all guilty to some degree, but I don't see it getting any better.
