Be aware that many schools don’t have any built-in consequences for failing at
the middle school level. It’s often up to parents to provide the immediate consequences that make students take their education seriously at that level. By the time students get to high school there will be more consequences, but if they’ve been flunking out repeatedly before then they can have huge gaps in their learning.
