if a shooter is constantly wondering if it's okay to shoot or not, it's going..
...affect their shot in a negative way. Bryant and Yoeli both appeared to have green lights on shooting from anywhere at any time in the shot clock. I don't recall either of them ever hesitating to shoot or looking over to see how much time was on the shot clock. Haws, Seljaas and Hardnett, on the other hand, constantly hesitated when they had open looks and would pass on the shot and look to swing the ball. When you look at the usage rates for both Bryant and Childs it was pretty clear this past season that there was intention behind that for others to defer shooting and get the ball to Bryant and Childs.

Good players get inside the heads of opposing players all the time, mess with them, undermine their confidence and get them off their games. It's no different for a coach to do the same thing.
