RE: The key issue to the BYU/Arizona game.
I get so tired of the "what if it goes past midnight" garbage. I believe BYU has stated that if a game started, they would finish it. The question becomes even more ludicrous considering time zones. Should it apply to venue of the event? Should it be based always on Provo time? If we are going to go all Pharisees and Sadducee on the topic, we really need to answer those questions.

I don't get hung up on the Saturday midnight thing. I look to a prophet, Joseph Fielding Smith. He stated with respect to the Sabbath that individuals who stayed up past midnight on Sunday night / Monday morning so they do things not "allowed" on the sabbath were not keeping the day appropriately. He stated it was Sunday until he went to bed and woke up again. I believe the same standard applies to Saturday. It is Saturday until I go to bed and wake up again. Therefore, the midnight issue is a much misguided philosophy just like caffeine in sodas, etc.

The sabbath is between the individual and the Lord. No one should set regulations to apply to all beyond partaking of the sacrament.
