Statement from family..

"The sad news is true! After 30 years of coaching BYU Rugby and leading the Cougars to 5 National Championship titles, my dear husband David Smyth has resigned. He, along with his amazing coaching staff including Wayne N Kenra Tarawhiti and many others, has decided that their philosophy to consistently improve and grow the program is not in alignment with BYU’s current projections.

As a family, we are profoundly grateful for the privilege we’ve had to associate with so many wonderful and amazing people. From coaches & players to fans & supporters, it’s been an amazing journey. We are better people because of the influence you’ve had in our lives. As my husband always says, “Y rugby? Because it’s the sport of the gods!”
