Running a triple option with Taysom Hill at QB and Jamaal Williams in the mix? Yes please. KN's offense would have been incredible with those two in the lineup assuming they were generally healthy. Given that of the 4 games we lost that year, we lost them by a total of just a 8 points, I have to believe that his tried and true offense would have been enough to put us over the edge.
Here are our losses:
Utah 20, BYU 19
UCLA 17, BYU 14
WV 35, BYU 32
BSU 28, BYU 27
Now, you may think "but the players would have to adjust to the new offense." To that I say they had to adjust to the new Detmer offense anyways and Detmer was learning as he went along. KN has had his offense humming for over a decade and installing it would have been a lot easier than installing Detmer's pro-style offense.
Additionally, the Defense appears to have been solid that year as a result of the solid players we had and Bronco's discipline. I struggle to believe that different coaches would have produced substantially more negative results than we had. The D coaches we have had just haven't been all that impressive after year 1.
After YR 1? Not sure how it goes. But in YR 1 I think a BYU team with KN as the could would have had a chance been incredible.
