I collaborate way more than I did with a cube but maybe that’s just me and my style because I don’t notice the rest of the group talking and collaborating any more than my last company, which is odd because my last company was a conservative insurance company and my new one is a tech company with a bunch of young people.

Maybe the issue is that open floor plans are usually done in companies with a younger crowd who tend to retreat into headphones and technology, and not the open floor plan itself.

Come to think of it, I think my favorite arrangement I have had was a floor plan that was halfway. We all had cubes but the walls were quite low so we felt like we had personal space but it was really easy to reach out and talk.
