With all this talk about the best HS player you’ve seen I’ve been reminded about Harvey Langi’s backstory. Best player in the state by a mile. Signs and commits to his dream school in Utah. Figures out life isn’t trending how he thinks it should and decides to serve a mission despite pushback from the coaching staff there to hold off on one he holds firm and goes anyways and serves a great mission.
When he’s almost due home he realizes the only place he can go to hopefully maintain the values that have become important to him is BYU.
He decides to transfer in hopes of continuing on the path. In doing so takes an insane amount of grief from fans, media, the Utah staff, and if I recall right even from home a bit. But Harvey holds firm and transfers and has a phenomenal career at BYU.
Married a beautiful wife, now in the NFL. Harvey 1 - Detractors 0. Ballgame.
So much respect for the guy. We should be INCREDIBLY proud to have him as a BYU Football alum.
