Pita would have been eligible at BYU.
In fact, one of the reasons he stayed committed to BYU so long is that they told him they would accept him as a non-qualifier and Utah wouldn't.
As for Star, I'm not sure it's fair to call him a decommit. He almost certainly would have played for BYU if he'd gotten eligible out of high school, but he didn't (and BYU was still in a conference at the time, so no non-qualifier magic was available). And he never committed to BYU as a JUCO recruit, and didn't seem interested.
