Historically that's probably true but, family's outside of Utah are not
as strong as they once were so, individuals in Utah are more likely to have family ties pulling them back home. And, the cost of living in Utah is low enough that there isn't as high of a barrier for people returning to their hometown as there is in California, the Northeast, and places like Seattle. I haven't seen any data but, wouldn't be surprised if Utah or just Mormons in general had a higher return rate because of these factors.

But, you are right about it being a phenomenon everywhere, my parents ward in California is full of kids have returned to live near home. But, most of those who have returned have professional degrees, really good jobs, or joined the family business. Others can't afford it othere than the few actually living with their parents.
