I thought the conventional wisdom is that early on the D should be better than O
O requires you to know exactly what you're doing and where you are going, while on D you can make up for a little of that by reacting (with speed and athleticism). Or so I thought from my high school playing days.
This makes me a bit worried about the team.
Although not much more worried than I have been for a really long time.
