So a kid can only go on 5 “official” visits...
And the expenses are all paid by the school. They go on those alone.

But the can go on as many unofficial visits as they want to go on to as many schools as they want to go to and can go multiple times to any school. The only thing they can receive for free on the unofficial visits are the 3 game tickets, the school can’t give them anything else, not even food. All of the schools have a recruit tent where the kids and their guests go and eat at halftime and it is for them only but you have to pay for it. I think most of them have been $10 but a couple of them have been $5.

Most official visits are taken after the HS season has ended, and even after the college season has ended, so that they don’t interfere with HS practice, games, and film study, etc.

But most recruits go in the unofficial almost every weekend. We have been on one every weekend since the season started except for one which was homecoming at my sons school so he was at that dance that Saturday.

It’s interesting to see how many kids that are already committed to another school are at these unofficial every week. We see most of the same kids and their parents at all of them so we have gotten to know a lot of them and even though they may be committed to Utah or BYU or somewhere else already they still go on these unofficial visits. I get it, it’s fun and they get to meat coaches and players and develop relationships because you really don’t know what will happen in the future and they want to have good relationships with other coaches and schools. This Jack Tuttle deal showed why that is important for these kids because they just never know how it will turn out at any given place. Best to have options just in case.
