I'm not a hardcore travel hacker, but the way I do it. If I have a big purchase
coming up. I'll look into a reward card that will net me $200-500 cash back. Otherwise if I have a trip coming up, I look up which airlines etc fly to my destination, and find a card that can allow me to redeem miles for that trip. I then get that card and use it for all of my normal monthly expenses for 2-3 months and it usually meets the spend requirement.

I never carry a balance, have multiple cards (1 for each category basically groceries/gas/restaurants etc) pretty sure I am not the banks targeted audience, but they for sure "lose" a good bit money/value to a lot of travel hacker/card churners. But the number of people that pay fees/interest etc more than make up for it
