Hans asked him about the BYU kicking tryout rumors. Matt said he attended a BYU specialist try out, but was turned away because BYU had highly touted Skyler Southam returning from his mission and they wanted to stick with him. Matt says his family was always big into BYU, but BYU wasn’t really his cup of herbal tea.

My UO alum father in law was in town Saturday, so I was at the Utah Oregon game with him. That 56 yard fg Gay made before the half was the best kick I’ve seen in person. Big game, tons of NFL scouts, ~40 degrees, and the kick was straight down the barrel and would’ve been good from 66. He is a weapon.

That being said, you can’t really fault BYU for sticking with a four star recruit kicker over a UVU soccer player. Just Ute luck.
